I was prompted to update Spotify and did so. It completed successfully but after relaunching I cannot play any music, nothing loads, not hte activity sidebar, discover, browse, search. I have done a clean reinstall after deleting the cache and app support directories.

My colleagues are using the same version of Spotify on Mavericks with no issue so I don't believe the internet connection to be at fault.

Also, some (relevant?) log entries that occur when I click on any part of the interface and it doesn't load anything, are these 2, repeated:

19/11/2013 10:54:23.482 Spotify Helper[46932]: Internals of CFAllocator not known; out-of-memory failures via CFAllocator will not result in termination. http://crbug.com/45650
19/11/2013 10:54:23.980 Spotify Helper[46932]: The function `CGFontSetShouldUseMulticache' is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance.

I'm still using the old version of Spotify and anytime it upgrades automatically I lose ability to do anything with the App except for play music from saved playlists, "search all" searches.

I'm on the verge of cancelling premium as Google Music works just fine for me.

Is there any estimation of when this should be solved?  Very annoying.

Should I stay or should I go?

I am having this problem as well. Crashes everytime I start up the program on my mac laptop. Tried restarting and reinstalling and still crashes. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

@Thundersleaze - Can you try:

- Disconnecting your Mac from the internet completely.
- Launching Spotify, should open in offline mode.
- Log out of Spotify
- Reconnect to the Internet
- Log back into Spotify

Still crash?

Hello,

That sequence did not fix the issue for me, however I found a solution:

- Disconnecting your Mac from the internet completely.
- Launching Spotify, should open in offline mode.
- Log out of Spotify
- Reconnect to the Internet (Keep spotify open in Offline mode)
- Log back into Spotify

- Spotify automatically reconnects

Thank you!

That unfortunately didn't work for me either. What I did to resolve it is the following:

1: make sure Spotify isn't started

2: open up a terminal using Spotlight

3: type the following on command line: go to ~/Library/Application Support/

4: you're now in the directory that contains all the settings for all youru programs

5: remove the spotify settings by typing this: rm -rf Spotify/

6: start Spotify and set your settings

7: enjoy

HI, I've tried repeated times to download spotify after it has stayed stuck and without playback. I download and delete and re install and the app looks like it isn't starting fresh, it is still stuck on the same track and crashes 5 seconds after everytime I open it. Not sure what to do other than listen through the web player =-( please help. osx 10.9.2 Macbook Pro

Hi.

Try this...

I have a free Spotify account generally used on my iPhone. I wanted to download and use the Mac app. App opens fine but there was no content... just empty / blank. I used the advise to download the old 0.8.5 version. BUT i didn't move to the Application folder, i just started the 0.8.5 app directly from the DMG image. Old app opens and plays music. Then I close the app, i close the DMG, I move the DMG to my Documents folder (for safe keeping), I open the DMG again, I open the old app directly from the DMG image, the app somehow detects the already newer app is in the Application folder and opens this one instead. I close Spotify and try to open the new one directly from Applications... and voilá - it works.

- MacBook Pro 13in

- OS X 10.9.2

- now running Spotify 0.9.7.16.g4b197456

I will try to reboot the MacBook and see if it still works.

I'm having the same problem, just made it today, and hope it gets fixed, macbook air's suck I guess, REALLY want this thing to work,

Same problem here.
I have Macbook Air OSX 10.9.3 i5 4gb ram.
The 101 error code pops up after opening the app with internet connection and when I tried to open Spotify without internet connection and reconnecting after opening the Spotify app - I've got 4 error code and Spotify refuses to reconnect. I've tried reinstalling Spotify and rebooting mac, but it still doesn't work.
It's not the same Mac without Spotify....

Error 101 is almost exclusively caused by firewalls. Are you behind a firewall at all (even on your router)?
