Loud sound between songs on Macbook using bluetooth

I’m having a problem using Bluetooth from a Macbook Pro (macOS 11.7) to a Sony receiver, there is a loud scratchy sound between songs or when I start a song.  The problem does not occur with the same receiver when I use my android phone.  Using crossfade gets rid of most of it but not entirely.  I closed and reopened Spotify, no difference.

Since the issue doesn't happen when using a different device, it could be related to some damaged cache stored on your mac. First, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

If the issue persists, would you mind checking with a different Bluetooth to see if it makes any difference or you keep hearing the scratching noise?

Turns out it is an issue with the computer and receiver, any audio from this computer has the same problem.  Thanks.
