No sound on Mac Book

Hi. I am using Spotify on a Macbook Pro that is running OS X Yosemite. When I open Spotify and choose a playlist, the music plays (the counter runs on the bottom) but there is no sound. I tried turning off "set the same volume level in all tracks" in the advanced settings, as some have suggested. I've checked the volume bar at the bottom of the screen to make sure it's not all the way off (it's not). Nothing works. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Hi,

 

Try to tinker some settings in System Preferences. 

Maybe you are using this app like me, I have Boom 2 installed on my system and sometimes my Mac won't output any sound unless I open this app or change the output from this app to my Mac Speakers in System Preferences.
