Regression/Bug: Clicking cover and current song no longer take to correct place

Regression/Bug: Clicking cover and current song no longer take to correct place

For about a year since my earlier reported issue, clicking the cover art would take the user to the correct/expected place, the album & song being played. This is now broken, most likely due to UI changes that don't test for regressions/bugs being introduced.

Steps to reproduce

1. Use Web player to search for an artist, for example Wilco (I'm not using desktop player to head off any troubleshooting steps about cache/reinstall/latest version, but behavior is exactly the same in desktop version).

2. Scroll down to Discography, click an album, and click Play button

3. At this point the view is as expected (see 1st screenshot purple box). The currently playing song is highlighted in green, and animated "currently playing" indicator is next to it.

BUG 1

4. Click Cover artwork in bottom left (see 2nd screenshot yellow box)

Expected behavior: User is taken to the currently playing album, with current song still in playing status

Actual behavior: User is taken to the artist page (2nd screenshot)

BUG 2

5. Click Current song title in bottom left (2nd screenshot green box)

Expected behavior: User is taken to the currently playing album, with current song still in playing status

Actual behavior: User is taken to the currently playing album, but there is no indication of the currently playing song. It's as if a completely different album is playing.  (3rd screenshot orange box)

I believe this regression stems from change in behavior around an artist's discography, where clicking an album now takes you to a full discography list with that album somewhere in the list, possibly to create a continuous listening experience. Whereas previously it would take you to a discreet page for that specific album. Please fix this, or revert the change completely because this worked perfectly fine before.

Not only is this still broken, it has gotten even worse as now clicking on the album art doesn't even take you to the correct album.

Hi there @zacsta,

Thanks for the post.

Currently, clicking the album art on the Web Player takes you to the playlist from which playback has started. This means that if you've started playing music from your Liked Songs, clicking the album art will take you to your Liked Songs.

Cheers.

This is still broken and didn't use to be.

Step 1: Play the last song in an album and let it continue into "autoplay" similar songs.

Step 2: Click the album art of the autoplayed song. It takes you to the original album with nothing highlighted and zero relation/indication to what's currently playing.

This is arguably what you're describing is intended, but is clearly a regression/bug since it used to take you to the actual album of the autoplayed song. Why would I want to return to the album I'm no longer even listening to?
