Slow connection between devices

Hello,

I work on an iMac (High Sierra), and I also have a laptop running El Capitan. This laptop is connected to my speakers a few steps from my desk, so I open Spotify on both computers so they link and I can control it from my iMac.
The problem is that the connection is too slow between devices. I hit next and the song changes like 30 or 60 seconds later... or I get a phone call and I can not just pause the music from my iMac, I mean, it pauses... eventually.

My internet connection is around 30mbps each way.

Any solutions for a smooth link between my 2 computers?
