The main way I like to listen to my music is to shuffle play across all the songs in my library. Just as iTunes, Apple Music etc has always let you do.
This used to work fine in Spotify. It no longer works.
If you select songs then shuffle play, it shuffles only a few songs. What looks like the last few albums you added. It does not shuffle your whole library.
This will likely force me to leave spotify if not fixed.

Just fixed this problem again on my laptop's Spotify app with help from someone from Spotify. They said it's because our offline devices have disconnected.
To fix it:
- Remove all offline devices: https://www.spotify.com/account/offline-devices/
- Redownload Spotify following this article, make you delete all the files that it tells you to otherwise it won't work and the problem will persist: https://support.spotify.com/au/article/reinstallation-of-spotify/
Hope this helps (:

Awesome! Thanks maddiek1107 that fixed the problem for me.
Removed connected devices, cleaned up and removed old app, reinstalled.
FIXED
Correction. It still has NOT been fixed.
Ah maybe I was wrong. I don't think it has fixed it.
Shuffle play of songs in my own collection doesn't work. It shuffles maybe the first one or two albums only.
Come on Spotify. I'm about to leave and go elsewhere.
I can't even play songs in my own collection.
Been chatting with Spotify support.
The problem with shuffle can be due to the device you are playing on. I have 1000s of songs in My Library. If I shuffle play them on my Mac desktop client, it provides a good shuffle of songs.
However, if I shuffle play them on an external device, the device has a limited capacity to shuffle so I only get the first few albums of songs in my library.
i.e. I use my Mac desktop client, select songs to play and shuffle, then select "devices available" and choose my TV with external aspeaker. The TV has limited shuffle capacity and I get the limited shuffled list of songs.
When I switch from Desktop to TV, the TV reshuffles so I still get a limited list.
It seems the only solution for playing larger shuffle lists on limited devices, is to create playlists yourself and play those on the device.
