My Question or Issue

Spotify  on my mac unfortunately recently started crashing randomly (once per 1 minute), which makes the app completely unuseable. I've tried a complete reinstall (also removed all configs) but that doesn't help, unfortunately.

Upon further investigation I found every crash is accompanied by the following log in mac console:

standard 22:30:57.926491 +0200 Spotify Helper [0715/223057.925830:WARNING:process_memory_mac.cc(93)] mach_vm_read(0x7ffeef658000, 0x2000): (os/kern) invalid address (1)

standard 22:30:58.134548 +0200 Spotify Helper [0715/223058.134429:WARNING:system_snapshot_mac.cc(42)] sysctlbyname kern.nx: No such file or directory (2)

I attached the full log here for your further inspection.

I look forward to your reply!

uninstall spotify

I've discovered that if I start Spotify when it was previously in offline mode I get this error (Mac OSX 10.15.4 OS Catalina).

You can edit the preferences file and set app.force-offline-mode to false

File: /Users/<your username>/Library/Application\ Support/Spotify/prefs

app.force-offline-mode=false

I've been following this dance for a while now. Uninstall doesn't solve the issue. I've tried a bunch of things like completely removing user caches and so on.

This fixed the issue for me. I knew it was because I had put it in offline mode. I just couldn't figure out where the preferences were to edit. Thank you.

Seems like an easy bug they could fix.
