My Question or Issue
hi, I'm just after updating my Spotify app, and my app has changed name to Spotify (old) why is this?
thanks in advance
Hey @alistairmck, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Could you try reinstalling the Spotify app following these steps?
Let me know how this goes!
Hello,
Thanx for joining my question to this thread. I tried the steps.
Unfortunatly, it didn't work.
I followed the steps, found a lot of spotify files in my user library that I deleted too. For what I know, I don't have a single spotify file on my Mac anymore, in computer library or in user library. Restarted it every single step.
I donwloaded the installation file and still my computer says "Impossible to open "install Spotify.app" ...
Any idea on what the problem is ?
Hey @Lili-One,
Thanks for following up here!
Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you double-check so that hosts files are removed as well? You can remove them by following the steps here.
Shouldn't that do the trick, could you try downloading the app from this page to see if you notice any difference?
It's also worth checking for any updates to your Mac's operating system. The steps may vary a bit depending on the exact model, however, you should be able to see if there's an update available by following these steps:
Fingers crossed this helps! Keep us posted on how it goes.
Hello,
I'm sorry, I'm coming back reeeeally late with this problem. I didn't take the time to try your suggestions (I wasn't much on my computer all that time). I found the solution !
I tried to check every steps you suggested without any better result. Then I did again the first solution without any change.
To unzip ziped files, I use a external app. For some reason I can't explain, I wondered if the result would be different if I unzip the file with the native app from Mac. And it worked like a charm !
so as a suggestion to ad to your pages, people have to make sure they use the native app from Mac to unzip the file 🙂
Thank you very much for your time, I'm glad I found the answer, and i'll be more than happy if my contribution could help anybody 🙂
