This question got asked, but there is no solution. Problem: I open spotify, a black window opens and I'm unable to use it. I tried: restarting my Mac, redownloading Spotify, updating Spotify (sometimes it opens and I can do it), I tried basicly every possible solution, that others suggested.

Hey again @Sbende,

Thank you for getting back in touch with us.

Can you try to download the app from here and see if the app has the same behavior?

Keep us posted 🙂

Cheers!

I've also did these:

  1. Spotify was not listed in the Login Items of my Mac.
  2. I couldn't locate this file/plugin: /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/SpotifyRemotePlugin.bundle
  3. I've deleted the app and all cache and other application files and reinstalled the latest version.
  4. I've disabled hardware acceleration.

But why does this happen to be not fixed??
I'm suprised, that not a single spotify employee has replied and even Spotify's okay with that. 😞
Here's a picture if it helps:

Hey @Sbende,

Thanks for your patience!

Could you try cleaning up the hosts file on the MacBook and then performing a clean reinstall once again? You can follow these steps.

If this doesn't help, could you try logging to your Spotify account on a different device and let me know the outcome?

Keep me posted!

Thanks for the reply, sorry for answering this late. I tried what you suggested, then I turned in my Mac, Spotify suddenly opens (it wasn't in the startup items), I logged in, black screen again.

Hey there @Sbende,

Thank you for your reply.

Can you confirm if you followed the steps that @Billy-J provided in the last answer?

It would also be great if you can let us know which version of the app you have?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!

It happens either when I open the app, or when I open it and use it for around 5-10 minutes and it unexpectedly blackens, but current the song will play.

I did these:
~Library/Application Support/Spotify
~Library/Saved Application State/com.spotify.client.savedState
~Library/Caches/com.spotify.installer
~Library/Caches/com.spotify.client
~Library/Preferences/com.spotify.client.plist
~Library/Preferences/com.spotify.helper.plist
~Library/LaunchAgents/com.spotify.webhelper.plist
And which one do I download the Current or the 10.5?

@Jeremy

Hi @Sbende

Thanks for your reply 🙂

We suggest that you download the current version of the app.

On another note, we'd like to add a few more troubleshooting steps to the ones you've tried already. Can you try restarting the Mac? If that doesn't do the trick, you can check these steps and launch the app in Mac safe mode.

If you still experience the same issue, we'd suggest a friend of yours to try with their account on your device. That way, we can check if it is an account-related issue.

Keep us posted!
