Spotify on a managed (non administrator) Mac account, problems with web helper program

Hello, I use Spotify (Premium) on a Mac user account with restricted access to some programs and web pages to protect my children. Since app 5 days, the setup seems to have changed because the user has no right to use spotify web helper. Usually, the administrator can allow usage by typing in the administrator password. With "spotify webhelper", "spotify helper eh" this does not work. The same dialog window continues to pop up each second. Search doesn't work anymore. On top, I cannot find the "webhelper" program on my Mac to allow it from the system user settings for this user.

I have already reinstalled spotify, no change, except that it worked for the first 30 minutes. What can I do? Any suggestions? Which programs or web pages do I need to allow using to solve the problem?

So I have solved the problem for the time being. I granted access to all programs, i.e. there is no need to find the web helper somewhere in the hidden files. I can still limit Safari to allow only a few pages to access. The pop ups don't appear anymore. Guess I can live with that, even if not an ideal solution.

Hi there @spotonamac and welcome to the community 🙂

I believe multiple instances of that process are created by Spotify, hence the multiple dialogs.

Can you set permissions for an executable file directly? The file should be located in the Spotify data directory, which will be in a hidden folder in your user folder most likely (It's the appdata folder in windows, not to sure about Macs...).

Thank you Liam, I probably can set the right permissions, but I'd need to know which permissions. As I can not locate the mentioned apps in the program folder nor service programs nor library, I am lost. It works with full permission on my user account, but the intention was to give spotify usage to my kids without letting them serve the whole web or use all programs at any time. It worked well for about a month. but then suddenly the web helper was mentioned and the pop ups arrived. I will continue a trial and error process with the permissions, maybe I find a solution by chance. Would be great, however, if somebody could help. I use Mavericks, I.e. the most recent OS on a Mac.
