Spotify uninstalled itself

Solved!

Spotify uninstalled itself

Hey all. I went to click on my spotify to open it (I have a mac) and it said error opening. I tried again several times and then suddenly it disappeared from both my dock and my applications folder. Then something popped up telling me to install spotify, and it took me to a download page. The download popped up and went into my downloads in my dock, so I click it. I am then immediately shown "Installation failed, An error occured while trying to install Spotify." This has happened over and over and I am very frustrated. I have OSX yosemite version 10.10.

Please help!

Thank you!

Update: thought, hey I should restart my mac and see what happens. Same exact thing. Very annoying.

Try a clean reinstall of Spotify to see if this fixes the problem:

Advanced method:
https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#!/article/reinstallation-of-spotify

Easy method:
Download this free app cleaner. It's super easy.

http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

When you open up the app, search for Spotify and it will automatically find and delete all files on your computer related to Spotify.

I use it all the time and it's a really great tool. If you ever decide to uninstall an app, the best way is to use this tool.

After that, download and reinstall Spotify.

While this gets the app back on your computer (naughty spotify auto-uninstalling!), it does remove all your local preferences.  In the grand scheme of things not a huge deal, but a big time suck if you have music that Spotify doesn't!
