My Question or Issue

I have a playlist playing on Smart Shuffle with Mix active and when a suggested song is playing, I'm unable to add that song to the playlist when clicking the plus icon. I have to manually add it to the list.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome. 

 

In this case, we'd recommend starting by performing a clean reinstall of the app. That way, you can make sure stored cache is not leading to any issues. You can follow these steps to do it.

 

If issues persist afterwards, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • Does this happen in all your playlists? Or does it happen only in the one you were playing in the video?
  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?
  • Does this happen on different device, such as a mobile? If not sure, it'd be awesome if you could check.

Thank you! That totally fixed the issue I had by doing a clean install. Now able to add suggested songs to the playlist with Mix setting on.

@AlejaR so sorry, but it looks like the issue came back. I was able to add one suggested song, but getting the same issue again when trying to add more. I guess I spoke too soon when I thought it was working. I think it would be good to have the macOS dev team take a look and see if it's something they can look into as a fix for a future release.

Is there anything else you'd like me to do to help with submitting this issue?

No worries, we're here to help. We think you can Clear the host files on your device to see if you notice any difference. You can follow these steps to do so.

 

Additionally, I think that, for now, the best way to go is trying to narrow down this behavior. In that sense, it'd be useful to know:

  • Does this happen if you open a different Spotify account on your Mac? You can ask for the Premium account of a relative or a friend to open it and check.
  • Does this happen on a different computer, perhaps one running Windows OS? If possible, you can ask for the computer of a relative or a friend to double-check.
  • The additional info I sent on my first reply. Make sure to send us those additional details as well.

By checking the above, we'll have a better idea about this issue, and if it might be device or account-related.

Ok, clearing the hosts file according to the instructions didn't fix the issue either. I'll see if I can get it to reproduce on another machine and send those details. Thank you!
