When will 'sort search results by column heading' be restored to Spotify?

Solved!

When will 'sort search results by column heading' be restored to Spotify?

"once you do a search, the column headings are unresponsive, regarding sorting by song title or sorting by artist or by album".

This is something I need from the program that should not have been removed.

"I can no longer SORT the search results by song title like I used to every day."

"Unable to SORT after doing a search."

different ways of saying it, but everyone knows it's a problem.

my question, when will it be fixed?

thank you.

I think this is a good time to brush up our advanced search syntax so as to get just the relevant results.

You are missing the point - sorting needs to be available. There are times when the advanced search syntax you mention is NOT what I want. For example - I might know part of a song name, but not the entire song. I would like to be able to sort by song, artist or album. Even just "getting the relevant results" does not eliminate the need to be able to sort the results.

You're making an assumption and no, I'm not missing the point at all. But being able to sort also ancourages me to use lazy searching, knowing I can drill down to the track I want using sorting. If they remove sorting (heaven forbid) then I won't be able to be quite so lazy any more.

What's really sad is that sorting by clicking on the column header already works in places like a playlist view, just not in the search results view which is where it is needed most.

They had better not remove sort in playlist view as i use that extensively on a daily basis.

i am sorry to use such strong terms, but only a Moron would dissable sorting in ANY search system.

There is nothing lazy about it. Even if you key in the exact song name, that song may appear on a multitude of albums and there may be versions by various different artists. So if there are a hundred versions of a particular song (yes, there can be), have fun not being lazy and going to look for the particular version you want. Not so sure why you are getting somewhat defensive over a request to bring back a feature that was taken away and exists in other parts of the interface.

Sorry, but talk about a convoluted silly reason to justiy removing sorting! Both types of functionality are required.

First.

Thank you for the workaround...

Second

**bleep** YOU SPOTIFY. Iv been paying customer for at least 2-3 years. WHY YOU DO THIS?

Oh.. i Quess... the answer is:

MONEY

Great, work around did the trick.  don't know why updates often take away useful features.  Thanks again.

Er we knew about this workaround already. We don't want a workaround we want a fix. The arrogane of it all. Looks like I will be taking my business to a more customer friendly service.

I'm really tired of waiting them to fix that. I guess they just don't care, even if we are hundred of sad customers.

That's a pity.

I'm sorry, but I don't know why typing spotify:search: before whatever you are searching for was marked as an Acceptable Solution. It is a workaround, plain and simple. You should not be required to append spotify:search: every time just to restore functionality that was broken when the rendering system was apparently changed. The sorting already works in other areas of the product, so the functionality needs to be restored here as well.

I agree 100% - it's essential.

I'm incredulous that the automatic ability to sort by column hasn't been restored after 3 months of complaints. The search function has always been pretty lousy without filtering options, paticularly when you're trying to find a song by a prolific artist - this inexplicable feature removal made it almost unusable. And, I'm sorry, a hidden workaround is NOT an acceptable solution to a bigger problem.

Customer service, anybody?

It's time to bring back sorting in search results. The beauty of spotify if the ability to play an exact song or album for which you are in the mood. Finding that song with the new interface has indeed become a labor of love since you are required to manually scan long lists looking for the desired  version. We've waited long enough.

@LJRMusic I moved your post to the relevant thread.

Sad I can no longer sort my search results since the Spotify client "upgrade".  Why has this feature been removed?

@Jigster I moved your post to the relevant thread.

To Spotify:

Your program is almost awesome, but it could be so much better if you would just listen to those of us, who are using your program on a daily basis.

The ability to "sort search results by coloumn heading" is a little thing to restore and if you think in user-friendly terms, you might have the "light-bulb"-moment: "Why did we ever remove this feature? That was stupid. Let's restore this feature, so the user's easily can search after the specific song or artist they want to listen to."

With impatient regards

Carsten Coach

Thanks for that.I often do searches for tracks containing a word (e.g. "Christmas" for a Xmas playlist) and that does not work anymore. Your workaround works a treat.

So this is still not fixed! When will it be fixed? Can't any one just take care of it?
