My Question or Issue

I am trying to open Spotify on windows 10. As soon as I open the app it closes immediately without any notification. The system tray icon also disappears when I mouse over it.

I have tried doing a clean install and removing all folders from %AppData% and also installing from Windows store. However, the results are the same. With a clean install when I log in with the Facebook button the app crashes. I can log into the web player without issue.

Is there anything else I can try?

Been having the same problem for months, just I dont log in with Facebook or have Premium, base plan, EXACT same issue. Getting real tired of it

I downloaded an old version for windows here  https://www.filepuma.com/download/spotify_1.0.64.399-16807/download/

and it works fine.

Edit: Spotify will try to autoupdate every time its opened. I was able to stop this with : https://technical-tips.com/blog/internet/spotify-disable-automatic-updates--19440

Might do the same for you?

Having exactly the same issue since the latest update - very annoying....

Hi there folks,

Thanks for reaching out about this.

Could you try running the app in Windows 8 compatibility mode and check whether it starts?

If that doesn't solve it, try entering Windows Safe mode and running a clean reinstall, following the steps from this article exactly.

Keep us posted.
