App issue Windows 10 - plays on PC even after connecting to Chromecast

App issue Windows 10 - plays on PC even after connecting to Chromecast

Hi all,

This problem only started in the last few weeks. Running the Spotify app on Windows 10 if I cast to the Chromecast, the Chromecast makes the connect sound but Spotify just keeps playing on the PC.
The app used to **bleep** me to tears by not connecting at all until you connected from an iOS device, then the PC app would miraculously work out what it was supposed to do but this is a different issue.
Can't believe how many bugs there are in the desktop PC app for such a major music player 🙄
Any help appreciated. Merry Christmas!
Dave

Hey @dave_jones1,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. We moved your post from Chats to the help boards as its content fits better here.

This type of issue is commonly related to some damaged cache stored on the desktop app that may affect the connect feature. In this case, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

Also, check if your Chromecast has any pending updates that may interfere with the proper behavior of the feature. Lastly, as this could also be network-related as well, we'd also recommend rebooting your router and making sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. In case you have a dual-band network, make sure both devices are connected to the same 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz band.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
