My Question or Issue
After the most recent Spotify app update for Windows (desktop), the search bar seems to be broken. Whenever I try to type in the name of an artist, it stops working after I type in the first letter and pulls in some random artist that begins with that letter. To continue the search, I must put the cursor back into the search bar and type in the rest of the word(s). This happens every time I try to search for anything.
As you might imagine, this is quite frustrating. I have looked in the community help section and ongoing issues and do not see this issue being reported.
The glitch began after the most recent update. I’ve attached a screenshot of the search bar, which now includes the Ctrl+K feature. I am unsure if that is what is causing the problem. When I use Ctrl+K it opens a second search bar.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.
Hello, @MihailY.
Here's the app info:
> Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
>1.2.58.498.g6afe77b7
The search in the playlist works fine. And I don't experience the same focus shift in the web player when using the global search.
I wasn't able to reproduce it with web app nor playlist search. It seems that the issue is caused by changing main content from a band page to search results. When you're using search with search results, playlist or album, the search bar works as intended. When you're on a band page and use search, the search bar loses focus as soon as search results are loaded.
Hey folks,
Thanks for all the info you've sent so far.
Could you let us know if you're still experiencing this? If so, we suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app on your devices to make sure they're running the latest version.
We'll be waiting for your replies.
I usually start my playlists with a category or initials, etc.
and when searching for a playlist of mine, the basic, outdated search algorhythm only starts searching at the first character. WHAAAA....T? that's so first-grade.
Just look for my search term [ex: Cool] starting at ANY Character in the playlist name, so that it would pick up ALL of these in the list to choose from:
Cool_80s songs
DJ1's Cool__hiphop
My Coolest playlist ever
Rob's cool girlfriend's playlist
not just the first one. You're killin me smalls, by not having a decent search ability for finding playlists. PLEASE, PLEASE FIX. I will be happy when you do.
Hi! Since I started this conversation I wanted to follow up and let peeps know that this issue has been rectified for me since the most recent Spotify update for Windows. I really appreciate the Spotify team working on this problem and getting a solution so quickly. I hope that others experiencing the same issue get a resolution as quickly. Thanks again to moderator Novy for the quick response and for notifying the developers of the problem.
