My Question or Issue

When navigating to any album for instance from artist page, clicking the "go back" button won't work on the first time (it does nothing). It only works when pressed again.

 

Version:

Spotify – Windows (64-bit)
1.2.15.828.g79f41970

Hey folks,

 

Our tech team is working on a fix for this in an upcoming version of the app (should be in 1.2.19), so stay tuned and keep the app up to date.

 

Let us know if everything looks good once you've updated the app.

Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out! 
 

We'd suggest that you try to log out > restart your computer > log back in to see if that makes any difference for you.

 

It's also a good idea to clear cached files on your device by following the steps here
 

If the issue persists after that, could you ask a friend or a family member to log in to their personal account on your computer to see if the app behaves the same way? 

 

On another note, we'd like to know if this happens on all artist pages or just on specific one?

Several restarts have been done after the issue has been noticed, and app cache cleared (this also happens in Web UI), same behaviour.

Also tried logging in with a different account, same behaviour.

 

This happens on all album pages, makes no difference which artist it is. Also it makes no difference whether you come to the album page from the home page, or an artist page, it always takes two clicks on "Go back" to get back. Only exception is if you navigate to an album from a playlist, in that case the "Go back" button works on the first time.

Along with the play button next to a song doing nothing when clicking on it, my Web Player also has this issue. It takes two clicks on the back button to go back to the previous screen. I'm using Windows 10 Home 22H2 at home and Windows 10 Pro 22H2 at work.

I don't own another Windows device I could test, but I just confirmed it happens on Mac OS also. So the issue applies to desktop on both Windows and Mac OS and the Web UI as well.

Could you make a video recording of the issue on one of your devices and upload that along with your next reply. Also include your current Spotify app version, if you do the recording on your Mac.

I don't have tools to make video recording other than MOV and your forum doesn't allow uploading that format. Why do you need a video anyway, as you can't even see the amount of clicks needed in that? I think I have explained the issue well enough already.

 

Mac version is:
Spotify – macOS (Apple Silicon)
1.2.16.947.gcfbaa410

But as I said, it happens also on Windows and Web client.

We were asking for the video recording to see how things look on your end, since we were not able to reproduce this ourselves and are not aware of other similar reports on the Community. 

 

We've passed on your report to the relevant folks at Spotify, however we can't say when this will be addressed. Keep your app up to date, as this issue might be resolved in one of the upcoming updates.

My Question or Issue

When you are looking at an album page and want to go back to the previous page, sometimes the back button requires clicking twice rather than just once.

 

If you scroll at all on the album page then click the back button, it will scroll back to the top of the page rather than go to the previous page which I would expect. However, there seems to be some inconsistencies on when the back button actually takes you back to the previous page you were on if you had not scrolled on the current album page at all.

Hey Alex, I couldn't find this thread before but I have the same issue. Looks like another mod merged my thread into this one. I can make a recording to show you. Is a Google Drive link to the video acceptable?

I have the same issue on my desktop app, always have to click twice on the back button on an album. It's annoying.

Thanks for letting us know. We'll happily pass this info onto the appropriate team so that this behaviour can be investigated. Be advised however that we cannot say for certain at the moment when or if this is going to get implemented.

I am also experiencing this issue on spotify desktop.

Before the latest update, the issue existed too, but the first click on the back button would lead to the top of the same page, and the second click would lead to the previous page. After the latest update, the first click does not even scroll to the top of the page, it does nothing, only the second click takes to the previous page.

I also have the same issue on Spotify desktop.

"If" it's going to be implemented? It's is annoying as **bleep**, fix it.

any update? im on MAC and this also occurs
