Issues with the Web player's volume slider

We're receiving reports that the Volume slider/control from the Web Player isn't functioning correctly. For some users, sliding the volume up automatically adjusts the volume lower instead, and vice-versa.

Reloading the Web Player page sets the volume to almost 0 or mute as well.

Hi folks,

We're excited to let you know that this should now be fixed for everyone! 😎

If you're still having trouble, make sure to post a new thread in the relevant help board here.

Hi everyone,

Our tech folks have made some changes backstage. Could you check if everything looks good on your end now?

Let us know how it goes 👍

Thanks for the update @Yordan.

The issue is still occurring as of 11pm Eastern on April 24th.
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.61.443.gc51c574b

When was this update pushed out? There may be a chance I'm not on the newest version.

HappyTea_1

As of April 26th. I can confirm that the volume behavior in web browser is mostly back to normal (scrolling is still broken) and it keeps the percentage when reloading the page (Previously it would reset to zero when you reloaded the page).

Hey @HappyTea_1,

Thanks for letting us know and glad it's now back to normal on your end!

@kaworu_bloodpaw, looks like you're not on the latest version so can you try updating the app to see if that makes a difference? In case the issue persists, I'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app to make sure any damaged cache will be removed.

Hope this helps.

The volume slider will be set to 0 or near 0 on page (re)load even if it was higher before and clicking to set the volume value differently on the volume slider will set it a bit lower on mouse release. This affects the played volume level, see the attached video.

My Question or Issue

From time to time my web browser for Spotify will randomly lower the volume to almost zero. I can't figure out why this is happening, the web browser settings for Spotify don't have the normalizing volume setting and it's off on my phone so that isn't the issue. I've also checked that my speakers don't have the "enable audio enhancements" enabled. It never happens on my Iphone so I don't have a clue what to do.

Still seems to be happening regardless.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. We've forwarded the info to our tech folks who'll investigate further. Stay tuned for updates 👍

Manual Volume adjustments with the volume slider on spotify in browser are not accurate.  70 percent of the time I set the volume, the volume IMMEDIATELY readjusts to a lower value.  This occurs on the browser (I do NOT use spotify's app.  Search has showed volume issues occur pretty regularly for app users too.  However, I ALSO downloaded the spotify app, signed in, JUST SO I COULD DISABLE SPOTIFY'S VOLUME AUTO ADJUSTMENT.  THAT STILL DIDN'T RESOLVE ISSUE)

There are no normalization settings I can set since I am using browser.  I've already cleared my cookies and cache.  This issue continues to occur on both chrome, and firefox.
I've already disabled all enhancements and normalizations settings from the PC sound system settings, as well as on the devicec property itself (Speakers)

As an additional test, I used keyboard keys to try and adjust volumes.
Both Alt + up, and Alt + down, lowered volume by a set amount, meaning I had no way to increase volume with keyboard keys.  something IS ABSOLUTELY BROKEN here.
