My Question or Issue

I can't play mp3 files I imported from my local files to my Spotify playlist. I can play them on my android phone without any problems but I can't on my PC.

The error message: "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

Tried unchecking hardware acceleration and uninstalling spotify. Didn't work.

Any help will be welcomed!

Hey @lww-_kcsdruz

I suggest clean reinstall (in case you didn't do that), that will make sure any local Spotify files left behind are cleared out. 🙂

For non-Windows Store client do this:

1. Close Spotify and uninstall it.
2. Go to %AppData% in Windows Explorer, and delete any Spotify folders you find in Local and Roaming folders.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Install Spotify.

For Windows Store client I recommend resetting the app (Tenforums guide) and then reinstalling it following the steps in this article. It is also recommended to use the Windows Store app on Windows 10.

Also, the music files play in Spotify app on your mobile?

Let me know how it goes 🙂

I'm using the windows 10 store version.

I reset and reinstalled Spotify, didn't help.

The music files work on my mobile phone.

If your music files have been protected in restricted formats, you can try installing Quicktime to see if that helps you make them playable in Spotify.

Also, double-check just in case that the files are indeed mp3, Spotify supports only MP3, MP4 (with Quicktime) and M4P (audio).

Let me know how you get on 🙂

All my music files are mp3, I reinstalled Quicktime, it didn't fixed the issue.
