Hi @lww-_kcsdruz, thanks for writing!

Can't you play any songs at all? Do you get any error messages?

Can you tell me if it started after some specific event?

Thanks!

Hi!

After installing Spotify on my phone again and restarting my pc solved the problem for some reason, but there is another problem:

I can't play any mp3 files from the Local Files library, it says:

"Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it"

I can play those files on my phone, but not on my PC

Hey @lww-_kcsdruz,

Please try going to Settings on your app, then scroll down to Local Files. Toggle "Show local files" off and then back on.

I guess it will help!

Hi,

It didn't help

Ok @lww-_kcsdruz,

In this case I suggest that you reinstall the app:

WINDOWS 10

  1. Open Spotify and click File in the menu bar. Select Exit.
  2. Click the Start button. Select Settings.
  3. Open System.
  4. Click Apps & features, then select Spotify.
  5. Click Uninstall. Click Uninstall again in the pop-up to confirm.
  6. Download and install Spotify from the Windows Apps store.

Hope this is more helpful!

It didn't solve the problem.

I'll try to give more context to the problem:

When I first discovered that feature everything worked on my PC, I added those mp3 files to one of my playlists and downloaded that playlist to my phone (including the mp3 files). While I can play those files on my phone, I'm getting the "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it" error even from my Local Files library.

Ok @lww-_kcsdruz,

Please note that the this isn't the ideal way to save your local files. You should follow the steps bellow.

In your desktop app:

  1. Click  in the top-right corner of the app and select Settings
  2. Scroll down to Local Files
  3. Any files in My Music and Downloads are automatically selected. Switch off any sources you don't want Spotify to access.
  4. Click ADD A SOURCE to select another folder.

Supported file types:

  • .mp3
  • .m4p (unless it contains video)
  • .mp4 (if QuickTime is installed on your computer)

Note: The iTunes lossless format (M4A) is not supported.

And then on your mobile:

  1. Import your local files to Spotify using the desktop app (see "Desktop" instructions above).
  2. Add the files to a playlist.
  3. Log in on your mobile or tablet using the same WiFi network as your desktop app.
  4. Select the playlist containing the local files.
  5. Switch on Download.

Can you try doing it this way? Hope this is more helpful!
