Can't share playlist links

Can't share playlist links

Hello,

I tried to share a playlist via the function Share -> Copy Playlist link. If I send a mail with the link to a user with a mobile device, the link tries to open in a browser, then tries to switch to the app store (neither Microsoft or Apple Store), although the app is already installed on the devices. The result: It's not possible to open a shared link. Could someone give an advice? Thank you...

Can anyone give me perhaps an email adress or a phone number where I have a direct contact to Spotify?

Thank you.

Hello @dadiddopf

If you're using the desktop app, see if you have checked "Allow Spotify to be opened from the web". That option is under "Advanced Settings" (see the screenshot).

If you're trying to open from the mobile app, what exactly happens and on what device and OS you're trying it?

Other workaround for both desktop and mobile is to copy the link and paste it in the search bar in the app. Then it'll open the playlist after you hit search.

Hope this helps, if not you can always come back with more details about the devices and me or someone else will try to assist you further!

Hi,

thanks for your response - the function 'Allow Spotify to be opened from the web' was already activated.

I sent someone the QR-Code with the integrated profile link, the user scans the QR-Code and is sent to the browser, there the Spotify site is shown, but you can only hear the songs for 30 seconds. There is also a button with the name 'Open in Spotify', when the user tries this, he is sent to the WIndows Store (when you use Windows Phone with windows mobile 10) or as a iPhone user to the Apple Store, although the app is already installed on the phones. I tried it with an android tablet (Android 4.4), there everything is okay, the system recognizes that this is a spotify link and asks automatically if you want to open it with the Spotify app, and if you click this, everything works.

Perhaps the problem lies in the devices themselves, not in the app, but I don't know where.

Hi again,

so the problem only appears on windows phone and iPhone?

I can't speak about the iPhone, as I'm not on iOS (you can search for similar topic or post in the respective iOS (iPhone, iPad) forum). For the windows phone, Spotify stopped supporting the app for the windows phone users, so the problem may lie in this, but I'm not 100% sure.

As you posted in the Desktop Windows I thought the problem is with the desktop app, are you expiriencing any problems with the windows store desktop version?

I just tested it and everything went smoothly for me, so if you have any troubles oppening the desktop app, you can log in / out to see if there will be any difference.

If that doesn't help, reinstallation of the app is always a prefereble method, just to be 100% sure that the app is up to date, without any caches stored, that may cause you troubles.
