Constant Reload Page prompt on Desktop when having local files and a new phone

Solved!

Constant Reload Page prompt on Desktop when having local files and a new phone

Desktop OS: Win 10

Device OS: Android (Samsung AT&T)

1. Enable local files on desktop

2. Create a playlist of only local files on desktop

3. On Mobile, download the playlist while on the same network as the desktop.

4. Get a new mobile phone.

5. Install and open Spotify on new mobile. NOTICE: downloaded songs are not available, understandably.

6. Open Desktop Spotify on Windows

RESULT:

Something went wrong, Reload. And you can't get passed it.

WORKAROUND:

On the Mobile Device, delete previous playlists that contained the downloaded local files from Windows. Windows Desktop version will now reload, but you'll have to rebuild your playlists from local files (Although, I didn't attempt to restore from deleted playlists).

Hey @EvS

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

No worries, now you can have the files locally on your new phone and listen to them without having to sync them from the PC. For more info, take a look at this FAQ and this article.

On another note, we couldn't replicate the issue you mentioned on our end. In this case, it's worth giving a different internet connection a go to see if that makes the difference.

If the issue persists, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of it so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Unfortunately I can't go through the steps to reproduce the issue, and if you can't replicate it, it probably has something to do with my individual systems. Thank you for taking the time to look into it. As I was able to find a workaround, my continued use of Spotify is unhampered by this issue.
