My Question or Issue
So, This randomly happened. Out of the blue, my spotify desktop app refused to sync with anything, discord integrations, spotify connect, etc.
I already tried known solutions to this, uninstalling then reinstalling, logging out then relogging in, the host notepad trick, disconnecting my discord integrations then reconnecting it. None of it won't work.
What's strange is that when I use the spotify web player on my google chrome, it syncs up with my phone and with discord integrations. It seemed like the spotify desktop app is isolated. It's so strange. I have yet to find an actual solution to this, please help me? I wanted to sync up some local files to my phone but I can't do it because of this.
Hi there @invisibleninjandy,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and for the troubleshooting you've done so far.
Can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your device, so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it since the steps will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.
If you already performed the steps that's provided in the article above, can you let us know which version of the app you're having?
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Take care!
Hello! thank you so much for the reply. I just tried the method in the article you linked me and it's still not synced up with my phone and on discord 😞
I made sure to check if there were old cache left but no luck. I didnt really find anything though... but yeah :,(
The version of my spotify app is:
Spotify for Windows
1.1.81.604.gccacfc8c
Hi again @invisibleninjandy,
Thank you for your reply and for the screenshots.
Can you install Spotify from the website, not the Windows store and to turn off hardware acceleration to see if the issue persists?
Keep us posted 🙂
Cheers!
I have been having the exact same issue as you ever since the Spotify app crashed world-wide and it logged out off everything. I can't even download the songs too 😕
I tried installing the Windows Store version, the version in their website... No luck.
Hey there @Gomes2003,
Thanks for sharing this info and for trying out the steps in this thread!
Here we'd suggest contacting our Support as they can also remove your cached data from Spotify's end, which may more often than not be causing this issue.
Note: This is not the same cache data you can delete locally by yourself. Removing it will only affect your downloaded items and will not change anything in your online profile.
Let us know how it goes.
We're here for you if anything else comes up.
Cheers!
Hi there @invisibleninjandy,
Thanks for letting us know.
In this case, we suggest that you try reaching out to our Support team on the link @Elena sent previously so they can take a closer look at your account and give you a hand with this.

I have the same problem. Spotify desktop won't connect to my android phone, not to Discord and it only randomly updates plays to Last.fm if I keep disconnectin the last.fm persmission to the Spotify account. I installed Spotify again to my phone and to my PC.
Weird thing is that my phone likes to connect between the Spotify web player but not with the desktop player. I also tried the option to log out on every location from the profile but it didn't work either. So the problem seems to be with the Spotify desktop application.
Hey @moilanen757,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
Sorry to hear this is happening.
Can you let us know if you're using any sort of VPN or custom firewall, or a school/ work pc?
You can try connecting your PC to another network as well, to check if the issue continues.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
I actually realised before your message it was my F-secure's VPN. It was turning on automatically when I turned my PC on so when I realised it and turned it off everything went back to normal and Spotify works again on my PC like it should.
Hey @moilanen757,
Great find! We're glad all is well now.
We're here for you if anything else pops up!
Thanks for letting us know 🙂
Cheers!
I'm having this exact problem and have tried EVERYTHING mentioned above. I've logged out of everything for over 10 minutes, reinstalled the Spotify version, switched to offline mode on every device, and switched to the Microsoft Store version. But NOTHING works! And I don't think I'm using a VPN!
I temporarily fixed this yesterday by disabling Hardware Acceleration, but that's no longer working for some unexplained reason.
This used to work just fine, but something suddenly changed less than a week ago.
I restarted Wi-Fi, switched back to the version that isn't on the Microsoft store, have no proxy on, toggled off "show local devices only", AND disabled hardware acceleration.
NONE OF IT WORKS! I TRIED EVERYTHING THAT I KNOW OF.

Installing Spotify from the website while it was already installed fixed it for me for some reason
