Desktop app to chromecast - How many years do you need?

After Chromecast support was requested back in 2013, it's still not fully functional.

I know this fix has been requested since the support was introduced back in 2015, and still doesnt work.

I know there are workarounds like the web player, starting it from a mobile device first etc, but this shouldn't at all be necessary.

Let me use "Spotify Connect" to connect directly to my Chromecast from the desktop app. There's no reason this shouldn't work, as a lot of other desktop programs/apps can start casting directly to the Chromecast.

Been a happy paying customer (as soon as that was available) since you were in "invite" stage, but I'm getting really tired of your **bleep**, honestly. Sort it out.

Clearly there are some conflicting business interests at play here.
Both Spotify and Google don't seem too eager to fix this issue because they might think a smooth connection between these two might harm their profits.
