Disable Explicit Songs?

Solved!

Disable Explicit Songs?

Is it possible to tell spotify not to play any songs with explicit lyrics?  I like to play random playlists or spotify's top lists sometimes but don't like songs with explicit lyrics.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jonathan

That is a choice you make as a consumer. If you don't like it, don't use there product. It is that simple. If you use their product deal with consequences. Always your choice where you spend your money.

Well, you're right there. I don't use their product strictly because of this one feature; it's why I went back to slacker. Slacker apparently can do the impossible of having a "don't play explicit content " toggle button in settings.

It certainly is my choice...

Having said that, I'm also a software developer and understand how simple if would be to remove all "explicit" songs from the play list if the user preference says "remove explicit songs".  Easey peasy.  The songs are already flagged!

I love the Spotify product and it's station functions and premade playlists...  So I play those regularly around the house...  So, a simple suggestion would be to allow me to disable all explicit.

Cool...

I think I will give Slacker a try out...

My problem is that I listen to Spotify like the radio... And, my kids are
usually around. That means I could be happily bopping away, working on my
renovation project with my kids and suddenly the Explicit lyrics are
filling our ears...

I can handle it... I just get over it.

I'm not saying you should filter my kids accounts (they don't have
accounts), but allow me to make the choice to filter out songs marked as
explicit when I wish to.

Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons is a good example. I appreciate the
songs and the emotion he is trying to convey, but that song is extremely
offensive to many people and I really don't want my kids singing that to
Grandpa. I usually just skip the song when I get to it. But, I cannot
easily do that.

I'm also a software developer and I understand that if you have already
marked the song with the explicit warning, you should be able to easily
filter out those songs.

I work at a restaurant and play music over the speakers with my phone. It'd be nice to have the option of blocking out all explicit songs without having to look for a clean playlist. I doubt it would be hard to implement.

If you're using the Mac Desktop version, there's an affordable app called Denied on the App Store that will automatically skip Explicit content on Spotify, while running in the background. It also allows you to add rules to permanently skip Artists, Titles, and Albums based on custom key words.

Works like a dream!

No sorry, only using Windows PC & android phone...but will check out play store. I have Spotify Premium by way of a free offer with phone for 1 year...if not sorted, will probably go to Apple 😐

Nice option, but I generally am using (a) a PC or (b) my android phone...

If Apple's iTunes can do it so can Spotify.  Time to apease your audience Spotify, grow your numbers by making a simple change to your program.  Allow us to restrict Music with explicit content  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201659

What is the status with this request? I totally agree, and apparently MANY people do also.

Some folks don't have a problem listening to objectionable and foul language, which is fine... I don't want to interfere with their right to do so. But the rest of us shouldn't be subjected to that, simply because Spotify refuses to add a simple toggle filter.

Please consider moving this issue way up in the priority list. Thanks.

Another vote for YES please.

My kids love hearing the latest pop songs but we don't need explicit lyrics. I turn to radio more than Spotify now and suffer through the ads.

Would rather have kids hear ads than inappropriate language.

Another +1 from me to add in this simple filter, especially since the songs have been tagged as Explicit. Can't even stream songs in my car due to worry of explicit songs playing while my kids are in the car.

Having the same problem in the car today, my children do not need to hear swearing at their age. Thanks!

I’d like this feature too. Come on, Spotify, make this happen.

5 years and Spotify won't implement the simplest of the parental control feature. Lame. 😒
