Do Notifications really work

I follows over 130 artists and only once have I recieved a notification about new material. For example Frank Turner released 'Tape Deck Heart' today. Both Deezer and Rdio managed to notify that it was out. Did Spotify?? nope. nothing. I'm trying really hard to stick with spotify, but Deezer is becoming such a better alternative.
