Does the quiet setting on the audio normalization reduce the dynamics of the track?

Does the quiet setting on the audio normalization reduce the dynamics of the track?

I want to achieve the highest quality audio and equal volume at the same time. It's hard to listen on a playlist that has soft volume on one music and very loud on another. I read many things about the normalization compressing the track. Does the quiet setting just reduces the volume?

Hey @electronic_edm

Good question!

According to information in Spotify For Artists FAQ on Loudness Normalization, (what it is and why it's used and what each level of it means, as well as how it's calculated), the quiet setting should be fine in terms of dynamics. It depends on the tracks too, as the first link shows, but in general it should favor dynamics over loudness.

Have a nice day 🙂
