Fade in/out on pause/play, esp. at beginning of tracks

I've noticed that when I pause a track, or resume a paused track, there is a noticeable fade in/out. This in and of itself is not a problem, but I also notice that the same fadeout sometimes happens at the beginning of a track.

I spent quite a bit of time clicking around tracks trying to replicate the fade-in effect, and it happened ~30-50% of the time when I was clicking around different tracks in an album, seemingly at random. (I used The Tuning CD for a clear effect.) I had no issues on the Web Player.

I'd really like to disable the fade in/fade out, is there a way to do this?

Does this issue occur only on desktop and only within the desktop app? Does it happen on mobile for example? 

If so, then consider disabling Volume Normalization and Crossfade within the app settings. While these shouldn't cause such behaviour usually, maybe they have something to do with it, so it's worth testing this out. If you've noticed similar volume fluctuations from other audio sources as well and not just Spotify, then consider checking the Windows volume settings as well. Sometimes, depending on what audio devices you use and how they are connected, the output can "power down" sort of and only reactivate when new audio begins to be played, thus cutting off the very beginning of a song for example.
