My Question or Issue

When I try to play "First" by Cold War Kids on my laptop, it registers the song as being 44 seconds long, and only plays that much. When I'm using my work PC or my phone, the song plays properly to 3:20. This happens even when playing the song from the same playlist on all 3 devices. It only happens with this song. Ideas?

Hey @stutopian

This issue happens on only your laptop as I understand?

I recommend reinstalling Spotify to wipe out client-side glitches. Here's how:

1. Close Spotify and uninstall it.
2. Go to %AppData% in Windows Explorer, and delete any Spotify folders you find in Local and Roaming folders.
3. Restart your computer.

4. Install Spotify.

Note: Windows Store Spotify doesn't seem to use appdata. In this case I recommend resetting the app's data (read this Windows Club article) and reinstalling as guided in this article.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Thanks, Sebasty, for the response. I followed your suggestions, and both articles, to the letter, twice. The issue remains. I appreciate the help, though.

@stutopian

In case the issue is still present, could you post the malfunctioning song here? There are at least 2 versions of this song and neither cause issues for me. Have you tried all available versions?

To post the song, click the three dots on the song - Share - Copy Spotify URI.
Then paste it here using the Insert Link tool.
This will turn it into a play button.

Another thing that may help is disabling local file:

1. Click on the dropdown arrow on the right of your username and select Settings.
2. Scroll downwards to Local Files. Turn all available locations off.

Let me know how it goes 🙂
