How do I get spotify to actually play similar songs?

Okay, I've been looking into this for a long time and I'm really starting to get frustrated at this point because I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I have it in the settings so after a song, it plays a similiar song next, right? But how on earth do I actually get it to do that?

Everytime I search an Artist and select a song from that artist, it will simply continue to play songs from that album next, or ones in the top 5 or top 10 if I played a song from there. If I type in a song name and play it, instead of playing similar songs after, it simply plays all the other songs by random artists with that same name lol.
