How to customize a station without “losing” a song to another station I might want

I’m a brand new Spotify user. I love to play acoustic guitar music when I’m working - more upbeat songs when it is during the day and slower songs at night. I did a Google search and found someone who put together a station that has a mixture of both. I’d like to be able to use that as a base and but modify it as I listen into an upbeat acoustical guitar station and a soft acoustical guitar station.

I would think that some sort of use of the thumbs up and thumbs down would do this but I’m afraid if I thumbs down a soft song while I’m listening during the day, Spotify may not play song or style again even though I want that for my night station. How do I get what I want?  If I can do this I will probably upgrade to Premium.
