How to stop smart shuffle from randomly turning on

I have a Windows 10 Laptop and every time I minimise and then maximise my Spotify window smart shuffle turns back on, this is really annoying as I open and close Spotify a lot and I don't even want it on shuffle never mind smart shuffle

Stop it, I don't want smart shuffle. Made it a different button or anything else.

Mine is doing the same thing. I have spotify premium and i don’t want smart shuffle i just want regular shuffle but it’s not letting me just regular shuffle. How do i fix it?

I have a Innoasis G1 mp3 player with Spotify on it, it keeps on turning on smart shuffle and regular shuffle when I don't want it to be on. it runs Android 8.1.0, if you could help me with this thank you

Hi Joan, this behavior is NOT strange because it happens to thousands of us, and it appears to be purposeful. I pay a lot of money for this service every month and this kind of app behavior is ridiculous. First of all, smart shuffle is anything but smart and sucks way more than regular shuffle (which also is not random and keeps playing the same nonsense over and over again). Second, it turns on BY ITSELF. That is quite frankly unacceptable and Spotify should be working hard to fix whatever its trying to pull here.

Hey everyone,

Good news! Spotify has listened to user feedback and you can now disable Smart Shuffle from the mobile app settings, as mentioned in this now implemented idea. This setting will also be added to the desktop app in a future update.

Steps to disable Smart Shuffle in the mobile app:

1: Tap on your profile picture at the top left corner

2: Tap on Settings and privacy

3: Tap on Playback

4: Switch Include Smart Shuffle in play modes off

Note: This is for Premium users only and right now it's only available in the mobile app, but in a future update, there will be a setting to disable Smart Shuffle in the desktop app as well.
