I have lost audio output to my speakers and headphones although I can ouput to external devices.

I can output to my speakers and headphones from Windows media player so it seems its just a problem with Spotify.

Any body have any suggestions?

Hey @user-removed

Your Spotify app might be muted. Windows has something called the Volume Mixer with sliders for each program that may create sound (System, Spotify, Foobar, Mozilla etc), and sometimes some programs might remain muted for some reason.

Here's how to check:

1. Find the speaker icon on Taskbar, right-click on it and select Volume Mixer.

2. Find Spotify in there and make sure it's unmuted. Spotify must be open for it to appear there.
3. If it's unmuted, you can try muting and then unmuting it and then restart Spotify.

In case you're using Discord, Skype or other similar apps:

1. Search for Sound. You can also right-click on the speaker icon on Taskbar and select 'Sounds'.

You should see a slightly smaller window named 'Sound'.

2. Go to 'Communications' tab and set Windows to 'do nothing'.

3. Click OK.

Even if you don't use such programs I mentioned, it might still work. 🙂

Let me know what happens!
