Is there a 64-bit version of Spotify for Windows??

Solved!

Is there a 64-bit version of Spotify for Windows??

I could not find an option to select the platform during download/install, and the Spotify download page feeds up only 1 install package, which loads a 32-bit version.  Am I correct that a 64-bit version of Spotify for Windows does not presently exist?   The app does not seem to fully work on my system and I read advice to install the 64-bit version, but that's not possible if there is no 64-bit version.

A 64 bit Spotify program has not been made yet, nor have there been any plans to make one.

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?

Only the Mac app has a 64-bit version.

There is currently NO 64-bit version for the Windows app.

Thanks - well that was pretty mean of someone to suggest the 64-bit upgrade when there is not one.

That's messed up, many of us are paying $10 a month for software that constantly crashes on 64-bit windows OS's... You'd think they'd want to keep us happy. This is why I'll probably be going back to play.

I agree. This is a bit of a bummer. I suspect more people with Spotify nowadays use 64bit machines than 32bit.

I've had similar problems with the Windows desktop app which I've now uninstalled. Although there does not appear to be a 64 bit desktop app for Windows, the excellent Spotify Web Player is available (https://www.spotify.com/redirect/webplayer/?utm_source=www.spotify.com&utm_medium=www_footer).  This runs a lightweight version of Spotify inside your web browser of choice (I'm using Chrome). It seems to run very smoothly in Windows 10 and the music quality seems to be better than the 32 bit desktop app. Enjoy!

It's a legitimate question b/c the Spotify Windows program is called "Spotify (32 bit)".

What's wrong with the 32-bit version ?

I really don't understand people who have no idea of software engineering to behave as if 64-bit Spotify would give them any advantage.

Spotify will never need to address more than 4GB RAM, and it won't need more than 32 CPUs at the same time (... what are we even talking about here...)

Also 32-bit has smaller overhead and is perfectly fine for small-medium non-productive consumer software.

Please stop asking for feature sets you have absolutely no idea of.

Thanks

Everything exists for a reason.

Try adding a large local library of music and watch the memory usage tick up to 4gig then observe the app crashing........

Do your research before posting high and mighty comments.......

Hey im 64bit win 7 Ultimate and it has never crashed (could it be you are on win crap10 os instead of 7, and the worse XP and Vista. But could it be that i have a "6" gig memory instead of the normal "4" because my processor is probably no better than yours. (also do not try win 7 on a vista hardware pc))

OS:Win 7 Ultimate service pack 1 64-bit

memory:6GB

Processor : Intel Core2 Duo T9400 2.53 Ghz

PC type and model: Dell latitude E6400 (extra memory added), Laptop

There's my pc specs if that helps

Also if you want to help people understand your problem, POST YOUR FRICKIN PC SPECS

A few of us who do have software engineering backgrounds can see advantages. Consider widening your view and multiplying the points of perspective from which you look. There's a reason google promotes the 64bit version of their browser for Windows 10, CEF is also available in 64bit versions.

sorry loljohndoe but that is just not tru.  i am adding my local mp3 database to spotify and it starts to add and add. untill it's just under 4GB ram and then it crashes.  we realy do need a 64Bit version!

I think its time for Spotify go with 64bit of the app.

@loljohndoe, If you're right then they need to fix the 32-bit so it doesn't crash and freeze up all the time. But then as the other user said.. "They make differnt versions for a reason". <iframe src="https://giphy.com/embed/l0MYy8B7O0ahS0Lao" width="480" height="480" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="https://giphy.com/gifs/wth-weird-cheese-puff-l0MYy8B7O0ahS0Lao">via GIPHY</a></p>
