I was just upgraded to 1.0.75.483.g7ff4a0dc today. Since the upgrade, I'm now unable to connect to Spotify from my work PC which is behind a proxy that requires authentication.
I've previously connected by specifying the proxy server host name on its own. Auto detect has never worked. Today, I tried toggling the proxy to off, to auto detect, and also entering in my credentials (entering in creds in the past has never worked), and I still cannot connect.
I attempted to do a clean uninstall to see if that would help and laughingly was unable to do so because the uninstall wizard crashes immediality.
Also, I discovered on my personal machine last night that the keyboard shorcut for minimizing the window is broken with the latest release (ALT + space + N).
I hope these items can be addressed via update. In the meantime from my work PC, I can access it via the browser, but I'm missing out on other native keyboard shortcut controls.
Thanks.
Hey @embj
If uninstalling through Control Panel is not possible, then another option is wiping out the Spotify folders from %AppData% folders (Roaming and Local). After you've done it, you'll need to restart the machine before reinstalling.
(thank you for this fantastic shortcut, I didn't know that!) Using the Windows Logo and arrow-key down will work, but it's not a good option (program no longer fullscreen as it's the middle option before minimizing). You can post about it in Issues section. 🙂
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks for the suggestion, I tried that but it didn't help. I'v got exactly the same symptoms as the author of the thread (access through proxy not working anymore).
Would be nice if Spotify could fix this! my premium abonment is kind of useless now.
This has been happening for months for me and Spotify will not listen. I run a network capture when trying to login to Spotify and it just flat out isn't using my proxy settings. It is attempting to connect directly to a bunch googleusercontent URLs. Which will fail in any environment correctly using a proxy i.e. blocking direct connections to the internet with a firewall. Really wish spotify would listen. I've attempted multiple times.
Hey @embj!
We have tried to reproduce the issue you are seeing internally to be able to find the problem and fix it, but without any success. We tested the proxy setting with a HTTP proxy, with username/password as auth method and it worked fine.
So my question is, are you still seeing this issue? And if so, do you have any additional information about your proxy settings that could help us in the debugging process (e.g. what type of proxy do you use)?
I also have some good news. The other issue you are seeing, the broken command (ALT + space + N), we can reproduce and are planning to fix. Unfortunately I can't promise a specific release date for the fix, but we will let you know when a fix is in place.
Cheers!

Hi there. Thanks for the reply. In my home environment I proxy all internet traffic and block direct access to the internet with my firewall.
I start a netstat and then I launch spotify. At first, Spotify connects to my proxy and then sits. Then when I attempt to log in, as soon as I hit go, I see the spotify process reaching out directly to googleusercontent URLs ...instead of reaching out via my proxy.
So, Spoitfy uses the proxy, sometimes, it seems. If you arent blocking traffic to the internet otherwise it will still appear to work. I do not use an authenticated proxy. Please inspect your netowrk connections during your testing. If your testing shows connections ONLY via your proxy then there must be something wrong on my end. All I know is, this worked months ago no problem. Thanks.
Hello axeshr3dder !
I have some good news! There is a fix in the latest version of Spotify that should solve your problem with the proxy support.
Just to be sure, on the settings page don't rely on "autodetect" but select the right proxy type in the dropdown and provide your proxy details in the text fields.

Still no luck. Just upgraded to the latest version of Spotify desktop, configured my proxy settings, and i still see the app recahing out to googleusercontent URLs directly instead of using the supplied proxy information. Oh well. Thanks anyway.
