Log in button leads to infinitely reloading page?

When I click the green "log in" button on my Spotify desktop app, it opens a blank page in my browser with a long URL that loads infinitely. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, logging in on the website beforehand, and trying a different browser, but nothing works. This has been going on for a month now.

That error is a connection based error which means the Spotify client was unable to communicate with the Spotify servers. Normally it does mean your connection is being prevented by a firewall or other security software - but it can also be caused by other factors. 

You could try to connect using a different Wifi network, just to see if it's a local issue or a network one.
