Problem with Spotify on Desktop

Problem with Spotify on Desktop

There is a problem with the app on my laptop.

1. Playlist not syncing after adding album songs to playlist on my phone

I added album songs to playlist on my phone, but on the desktop, it did not update.

Here is my screenshot:

And this is what the screenshot is on my phone:

2. The bar on the bottom is not moving while a song is playing on another device.

I also have another problem. The bar on the bottom is not moving while a song is playing.

But on my phone, the bar does move while a song is playing.

Hey there @EthanChai1!

First, I'd like to know if you are still experiencing this or if this has been fixed.

If not, can you try on a different WiFi connection or a hotspot to see if it makes a difference?

Please keep me in the loop.

The Wi-Fi is stable but, it still has problems.

Thanks for the quick reply @EthanChai1!

Can you please provide the info below:

- Device make and model

- OS version

- Spotify version

With this info on hand, it will help us get a better look at what's happening on your end.

I'll be on the lookout.

The device is a Lenovo and the model is IdeaPad 3 15ITL05

The OS Version is Windows 11

The Spotify Version is 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29

But, how to fix the three problems, such as playlist not syncing after adding album songs to playlist on my phone, bar not moving while a song is playing on another device and playlist not matching the number of songs on desktop and on my phone?

Thanks for providing more info @EthanChai1!

Can you try these steps to see if it helps? This process will clean any cache that might be causing issues on your device.

I recommend you install the Spotify app from the Microsoft Store and see if you notice a difference.

For issue number 2 you pointed out, can you please provide this info in this thread here since this issue will be further investigated there?

Let me know how it goes.

I am having the exact same issues. I have done a reinstall of both apps on my desktop and phone, and it seemed to fix the playlist sync... Until I edited another playlist two days later and had the same problem. I also tried turning both apps onto offline mode for a while as was suggested elsewhere. This didn't work. I have also logged in and out several times and that also didn't work.

I am also experiencing this issue. I’ve reinstalled it, but the issue continues to happen. It seems to be affecting private and public playlists.

Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.40.599.g606b7f29

Having the same issue, windows 10

Having the same issue. Intel Mac and iPhone 15 Pro. I do a lot of back and forth editing of playlists between my phone and laptop so this is ... frustrating. It's been happening for a month or so.

Hi folks,

We got some reports in a similar thread that this should be fixed now. Can you check and let us know? Make sure your app is running the newest version just in case.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Take care 🙂

Hi Elena,

I edited a playlist yesterday and it seemed to sync ok with the desktop app, but the mobile app still crashed several times during the process.. Which it was doing before also.

Hey @little_amu,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

As it seems to be working well on your desktop, it's possible that your mobile app just needs a resync. So in this case, we'd recommend logging out and back in twice to see if it makes any difference.

If the issue persists, it's also possible that your mobile device still has some damaged cache affecting the proper behavior of the app. It's also worth performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article to clean those files.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Oscar,

Thanks for your help. I have logged in and out twice and still had issues, I then did another quick reinstall, but still had issues. Yesterday, I then did a clean reinstall, and things for the most part went smoothly as I was editing, with everything syncing between the mobile and desktop app quickly. I still did have the app slow right down and crash once towards the end though...

Hey @little_amu,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

If the app is still slow and crashes from time to time, it's possible that the issue could be device-related. To check on this, would you mind checking on a different mobile device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

It would also be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your mobile device(it could be the same friend or family member) to see if the issue persists. This will help us understand if it could be account-related or not.

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi Oscar,

My Spotify app continues to crash repeatedly when I am editing. I was just able to access another device now, and logged into my account on it, and it did not crash. I wasn't able to have someone else log into their account to test though. I am using a Galaxy A13 5G Model SM-A136B and Android Version 14. The Spotify version is 8.9.60.560 I am not having trouble with any other apps on my phone crashing... Thanks for all your help.

Amy

Hey @little_amu

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you let us know if you're using an SD card? If so, we suggest that you remove it > perform a clean reinstall of the app with the steps @OscarDC sent previously > restart your device > log back in to your account.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you make sure that Spotify has all necessary permissions enabled?

  1. Open your Settings menu.
  2. Scroll to the bottom to find Spotify and open the app settings.
  3. Enable everything you see.

It's also a good idea to exclude the app from any Battery optimization software that might be active on your smartphone.

Keep us posted on how it goes.
