My Question or Issue

Remote listening has always been buggy since it's introduction, but now it straight up doesn't work anymore.

Primary instance of Spotify is running on an iPhone XR w/ iOS 14.2.1. Using standard bluetooth Apple airpods. Upon opening Spotify on my Windows desktop, Spotify detects that I am listening on my iPhone and asks if I would like to continue listening on my phone, I select yes and then have about 5 seconds of remote control from the Windows desktop before the Spotify desktop app crashes. Every time. Even after restarting Spotify, even after restarting the computer, even after reinstalling the Spotify desktop app. I can only assume that this functionality has been broken by a recent update of some sort. The desktop app does not throw an error upon crashing, however the application error is picked up by Windows Event Viewer and is as follows:

Faulting application name: Spotify.exe, version: 1.1.46.916, time stamp: 0x5fab1f29

Not sure if this is a known bug or what but man it would be nice to have this functionality back, even if it's just as buggy as it was before.

Hey @GreyHayze,

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here.

Just to confirm, have you tried a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your devices? We recommend the steps in that guide, as they’re very thorough and make sure no damaged leftover files remain. These changes tend to solve connectivity issues like the one you're experiencing. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app. Note that we advise you to download the version of the app from the Microsoft store as it's best optimized for windows 10.

If that doesn't fix things, could you let us know if this happens only when connected with the airpods? Are they paired to both devices simultaneously?

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted how you get on.
