My Question or Issue
For the past two months, when I play music on my HP desktop the music will stop and freeze on an ad. This happens every 3 songs and it is becoming very annoying. I have tried to do a couple of trouble shooting things to try and reset Spotify. I have also tried to download the app to see if that would fix the issue, it didn't. I will also like to mention that I am playing this music at work, so there are anywhere from 3 to 4 other computers logged into the same account. We do that so we can change the music at anytime. Any tips that could help solve this issue would be amazing! Thank you in advance! 🙂
Hi there @BellFlatirons,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
You mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?
Note that this issue might be caused by some network restrictions at your office or by an ad-block software on the computers themselves. We'd recommend checking with your network administrator in order to make sure hat networking traffic for the Spotify app is not restricted. It's also a good idea to disable ad-blocks.
On another note, you should always keep the app open and in focus when an ad is running, in order to get the maximum amount of ad-free listening.
You can also consider updating to Spotify Premium to enjoy ad free listening and Premium features. And since you're multiple users playing music together in the office, you can check out the Group Session feature.
Keep us posted on how it goes.
Hi Alex,
Seems a bit heavy-handed for me to have to make sure the app is always in focus. Other music services I use (ad-based) such as Pandora don't require this to be true. I'm on a Mac and iPhone with my music pushed to my Sonos Roam. All music services I subscribe to with the exception of Spotify don't pause like this. Very disappointing. I don't mind listening to ads, but I do mind have to click pause and then play in order to continue listening. Hopefully this can get resolved soon!
Hello,
Spotify stops playing music and seems to freeze after ads when using a web browser (I've tried both MS Edge and Google Chrome.) I have to refresh my browser page and then play again.

Every time a commercial is about to come on the music completely stops. I have to close out the window, sign back in , a few songs play then it's commercial time and the music stops again. I'm using Windows on a desktop and have a free account. Not using any app just playing directly from the website.
I listen to Spotify over my samsung s23 phone while on my motorcycle. For the last month or so it will play 1-3 songs then an ad. The ad freezes and everything is locked up. It's hard to hit pause/play while riding, but i manage and it's still stuck. Have to exit app and restart. Sucks the big one. I'll be switching to pandora or something.
its definitely the ads blocker
