Hi everyone
This is really strange, I have a Premium account (not that it matters I geuss) and I just logged in on a personal computer on which I haven't used Spotify in a few months. I just started it, it updated and all my playlists are gone.
What's showing under 'Playlists' are, what looks like to me, someone else's playlists and none of mine are in there.
The 'Following' artists are all good as are my 'Stations' and the 'Recently Played' - most of these from the last Artist Radio I listened to.
What's going on and how can I fix this? I play Spotify on my work computer and mobile phone nearly every day so this is new.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi VintageNewscast and thank you for your answer. I apologize for the late reply but the last two weeks have been a bit full-on...
This is still an issue for me only now Spotify on my work iPhone is doing the same thing. I'm only really following one playlist, had one 'Liked from Radio0 playlist and the rest of them I created myself so I definitely never followed any of these appearing in the list and forgot about it. Plus it's some music I'm really not into 😄
I also only have one Spotify account and don't use FB to login with so on all devices I'm signed in with my e-mail addess and password. I'm the only one that has access to these devices btw. I got a Spotify Premium code through my work mobile phone company when my plan was upgrader.
I really don't get it. Any idea how this could have happened?
Hello! Did you ever find a fix?! I just opened my Spotify today to find all my playlists gone and the random German playlists instead! It’s like my account has merged with someone else’s!! The only thing that has changed for me is that I now am Premium on a family account. But these definitely aren’t playlists fro manyonw in my family plan.
Hey Brandon
Nope! I really didn't have time to bother with this in the last month so I just deleted them and now I have NO playlists - will have to make new ones. This is really confusing and I don't know who to turn to for help. Let me know what you come up with!
I forgot to ask, did you try going in to your web account and "Restoring" your old playlists?
Thank you, I took this advice from ClassicBlogger the other day and it worked!
Another glitch though - I replied to his comment to say thanks but that clearly didn't show up either! 🙂
Ah well... back to normal now. Thanks guys
Thank you, that worked!
I'm glad!!
Yeah I after I made my post on here I kept researching and found I could restore my playlists. And for all the playlists that are in the picture I posted, I unfollowed all of them. But I kept the “Musik” one because that was a playlist that was created not followed. Which truly proves someone else had access to my account or my Spotify was merged with someone else’s. I emailed Spotify as well and told them about this and how it could be a security threat and how I definitely wasn’t phished but I have gotten no reply.
Exactly only I strictly don't use Google or Facebook to sign into other pages, that's what makes it a bit spooky. I 100% used my username and password on all devices and am usually signed in automatically. Also when it first happened I was on a brand new (1 day old) work desktop computer.
Starting to worry a bit now, I think I'll contact Splrify just to see what they think.
Thanks for all your inputs people, really appreciate it.
It may have been a "work computer," but the security is only as good as the IT department, or I should say, their resources. But, another senario could be that, the IT department restricts certain files that spotify uses, that maybe seen as high risk to the company net work. This is one of the reasons I install **bleep** on my phone. I don't like installing any personal stuff on company property, for a scroll of reasons.
Thanks for your reply. It was a small archiecture studio with 3 staff, no IT department or anything, I even set up the computer myself (brand new) and nothing was blocking any 'high risk' files. And even if it did, how would that make my playlists completely disappear and someone else's show up? Music I never even heard of or listen to.
And same as BrandonLA the only thing I did different the day I saw these playlists appear was upgrade to Premium. So we both had the same issue it seems.
I've had Spotify for years now, always used it on my home computer that only has the free Avast Antivirus and never had an issue.
I still don't get it.
When things like this happen, most people are not aware of just how many things that can effect your computer. You asked "And even if it did, how would that make my playlists completely disappear and someone else's show up?" Well, each playlist is created as a *.M3U file. Now, granted techcnically these files are merely text files, however, they're text files with references to location of other files, and if let's say, your antivirus doesn't understand what those files are, it willl automatically see the file as suspicous. Don't assume cause your computer is "new" you shouldn't have any problems, because that is a false mindset. It has nothing to do whether your computer is new or not.
The bottom line is, sometimes the problem is easily known and remedied. Othe times, the problem is not seen or noticable, and it takes time to investigate even the simple ones. Without knowing exactly what happen, I can only give you ideas, in hopes that one of them you'll find your answer.
Thanks for your explanation. And I didn't assume anything, I was just confused and wanted to get to the bottom of it.
So that must be it then, poor security. Funny how it happend exactly when I upgraded to Premium...
Thanks!
