My Question or Issue

A recent update to Spotify (today it seems) has removed the queue/recently played button from the interface. I use this feature often to go back and re-queue past songs or like them after they've stopped playing.

The button is still there when playing other playlists. If I open the queue while playing a playlist and then start the DJ, the queue and recently played screen persists, but I can't navigate away and return to it without restarting DJ.

Hey @bigbrotherx101,

Thanks for your post! I noticed this recent change on the desktop as well. The same behavior also occurs on mobile devices, so I believe this is by design. If you do have the mobile app, you can use the "recently played" feature on the home tab to access tracks that have been playing on other devices, such as your desktop. Unfortunately, this feature is not currently available on desktop, so there isn't a simple way to access recently played tracks while using the DJ from your PC.

Also, I would recommend submitting an idea here that users can comment and vote on if you would like to see the DJ button implemented in a different way that allows the queue button to remain in place at all times.

I see what you're saying @dinomight, but I'm not sure I agree, as this was a feature that did work before, and is now gone. I'm not sure what sense it would make on Spotify's part to remove a perfectly good feature like this. I work in software development, and this would fall under a regression.

This is why Spotify really needs to publish their changelog, otherwise it leaves paying customers in the dark and just frustrated with the service.

I completely agree that is not an ideal spot for the button to be placed, but this is exactly how the feature is implemented on mobile, and I believe the intent is for the queue to not be easily accessible when the DJ is in use. Unfortunately, with the history being tied to the queue on desktop that presents a bit of an issue. On mobile, this is easily resolved because it has a separate history feature for viewing previously played tracks.

On another note, the DJ feature is still currently in beta, so it's entirely possible some of these implementations could change in the future based on testing and user feedback.

Thanks again for providing your feedback here, and I definitely understand your frustration!

Recently played being missing during DJ mode is annoying, yes. But what's REALLY annoying is that the queue is missing. Often during a "DJ set" I'll think of some other songs and add them into the queue - but then I can't actually change them once I've done it. I think this is more of a breaking bug than the missing history, personally...
