My Question or Issue

I just noticed today that when I try to play the songs on my Liked Songs list, they are automatically shuffled. I do NOT have the shuffle function on, and there doesn't seem to be any way to prevent this. Playlists play just fine; this is only an issue with my Liked Songs list. Is it impossible to just play those songs through anymore? I've had Spotify for years, and this was never an issue until today.

I've been having this exact issue for a week or two now and it's getting really frustrating. I would play a song and it wouldn't go to the next one just randomly plays another liked song that I didn't have queued or anything.

I did finally get it to stop by uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify. I have no idea what caused it, though, so I have no idea how to prevent it in the future. 😕 Hopefully uninstall/reinstall will work for you, if you haven't tried that already!

Just kidding. Less than 24 hours later, the problem is back. I'm going to try the uninstall/reinstall thing again, as well as contacting customer support. Again.

I did the same thing, uninstalled and reinstalled (fixed it) but since I use Spotify a lot on my PC the issue returned pretty quickly. I have no idea what is causing it and it's very annoying. I hope support replies.

Quick update: After 15+ emails with customer service, it's obvious that this issue can't be resolved (and that customer service is remarkably incompetent--at least the people I dealt with--yikes!).

The only workaround I figured out is to create a new playlist, put all of your Liked Songs on it, and play from there vs. directly from Liked Songs. This means every time you like a new song, you'll have to add it to the playlist.

If anyone's able to find an actual fix for this, I'd love to know! In the meantime, I guess the workaround will have to do....

I had this same frustrating issue for a few weeks!! What worked for me was clicking on the three dots next to any song on the playlist and click ‘shuffle’ when you get that menu up. It should turn grey and then have the songs go in consecutive order again!

How can i turn off shuffle from liked songs?

Hi there @seifnader,

Thanks for the post.

You can turn off Shuffle from your Liked songs from the Now playing view. Just click the Shuffle button so it becomes gray, like in the image below.

More info on this can be found here

Take care.

It turns back on by itself though next time I play my liked songs. And for me, it on enhanced shuffle by default each time, even though each time I turn it off.

It's a bug, pls, it's so annoying..

Hi @radutopor,

Thanks for reaching out. How exactly do you start the playlist? If you do it by clicking the big green play button at the top, that will always shuffle the list. If you play a specific song from the list and let it play out from there, shuffle should not be enabled. Check this if you have't already.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Joan, thanks for replying!

I start by playing a specific song in the playlist, not by tapping the play button. Last few times I also checked that shuffle was off when I tap on the song. After the song finishes, I expect the next one in the playlist to be played, but a random one plays next. I then check the playlist and now it's on shuffle.

I think I can add more context to this, and attach a video. After testing a bit to find steps to replicate, I noticed that when I enter the playlist, it _alway_ defaults to shuffle, and only after waiting for a moment, it switches to un-shuffled. The duration of that moment varies, but if it's particularly slow, and I tap on a song to play before the shuffle state is settled, it will play _and remain_ in shuffle mode. As you can see from the vid, this is consistently replicable.

I'm don't know if this is the full extent of the shuffle issues people are reporting on this thread, but it's definitely part of it, and something that's consistently replicable.

Hello! Did you happen to know any other solution to this without re-installing the app? It’s inconvenient since I’d have to download everything again and my song suggestions will for sure get messed up.

Hey @radutopor,

Thank you for getting back to us and sharing the video.

We'd suggest that you try logging out and then logging back in twice in a row on your device. This will force a sync between your device and the account.

In case you're still having issues, you can try performing a clean reinstall of the app by following this guide. We recommend this step since it gets you the latest app version and removes corrupted data from previous installations that could be causing issues with the app's performance on your device.

If the issue still persists after reinstalling, would you mind testing this with a different account? If a family member has a Spotify account, it'd be great to ask them to log in on your phone to see if they'll be able to reproduce this. This will help us understand if it's account related or not.

Hope this helps. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you 🙂
