Some songs not playing on Windows Application.

Solved!

Some songs not playing on Windows Application.

I have Windows 10 and after a few hours some songs stop playing then restarting my computer will resolve the issue.

When I click on a song, there will be no album cover nor name of the song. One example is the song "Something stupid" by Frank Sinatra.

I have tried
- turning off my hardware acceleration
- using Auto for my streaming quality
- tried turning off my proxy and using auto proxy
- logging out then logging back in
- turned off my VPN and made sure everything else works
- cleared cache
All of my songs in playlists work and many other songs. I also tried the Chrome app and that work totally fine on my machine.

Hi there @xman_octopus6969,

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community!

I'd recommend you run a throughout clean reinstall of the app, following this detailed guide. Sometimes there might be some corrupted app files on your computer, which are causing the issues and it's a good idea to clear them.

You can try installing the app from our Website, if you're currently using the one from the MS store or vice versa. Even though the MS store app is more optimized, it might cause issues on some machines.

Note that this issue might also be caused by your VPN, as the Desktop app is not designed to work with one. The issue might be coming from rerouted network traffic, since the app would detect a change in IP address.

Hope this helps.

It was the VPN!  You were right.  I had tried without the VPN before but I had to restart both the Spotify Desktop Application and the VPN.
