My Question or Issue
The desktop application has decided to stop playing songs ("Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it.") unless they're downloaded, in which case it plays 6 seconds and then gives a "Can't play the current song." message.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app multiple times. I've tried deleting LocalCache and LocalState. I've tried editing the hosts file (there was no Spotify line in it). I've tried disabling hardware acceleration. Nothing has worked. My Premium is current and Spotify works fine on iOS and the web app. I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

Hey @JC113,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
Can you try running a clean reinstall of the app, following this exact guide. In the end try downloading the app from our website instead of the MS store or vice versa.
Some releases of Windows work better with the app from our website.
Keep us posted on how you get on.

Thanks Alex, looks like it was switching from the Microsoft Store app to the desktop program that fixed it.
