No we won't use your feedback thread

No we won't use your feedback thread

It seems the mods here are panicking a bit, they're locking threads about the horrible new UI left and right and serving us their usual ridiculous copy/paste BS about how they "care about customers feedback" (mega-LOL).

So, no, we won't use your useless feedback thread, we used it countless times in the past (like when we were asking to bring back the editable "recently played" list on the phone app) and the devs did the exact opposite of what we were asking (they actually removed this feature from the desktop app too) !

If you did care about your customers you wouldn't have forced this half-broken horrible new UI on us, and you wouldn't have lurked these forums to see how we found workarounds and pushed new updates just to prevent these workarounds !

Why do you hate us that much ?

Like many others, I'm starting to look for alternatives to Spotify, and as soon as I find one it's bye-bye for good, the only way we can vote is with our wallets.

of course these clowns would rather resort to censorship and sweeping everything under the rug instead of actually fixing the UI

Hello @Grazzt, @chairman-mao,

let's set the record straight: If you want to post on this Community forum, you will need to follow the respective Guidelines as established here.

Your thread here is in violation of multiple of those:

  1. It's a duplicate and redundant, creates clutter without any constructive conversation or discussion intent. As you self point out, you're fully aware of this as there is a dedicated thread for feedback on the new desktop app which you purposefully decided to ignore, even though we aren't and are constantly adding more feedback and feature requests to our development roadmap from it.
  2. It blatantly disregards our rules about keeping a friendly tone and openly insults people. As yes, Spotify is run, developed, maintained and supported by people. We honestly do not understand how insulting people and calling them clowns or just being plain rude to them will help your cause.

To address your points - we have never, ever removed a post that has been in line with our guidelines. No matter how much complaining there was in it or how negative and frustrated it was. As long as it is within a tolerance of friendly tone it will stay up. I'm sure you can find plenty examples of this and we do keep records of removed content to prove this, should the need arise. Negative feedback is super important. We need to know what folks think in order to collate this with usage data and base decisions on. At the end of the day however - we will never be able to make everyone happy and we can only try and give it our best. However, the Community is not a place where we will tolerate openly abuse and offensive behavior.

And yes, we get it - we overhauled an app used by millions of people who were accustomed to using it in their own specific ways, some of which are now not possible. We had our reasons to do this and it wasn't easy to do it. We could've just kept the old app with its own issues and just let it be, but we thought it's best to rebuild it from the ground up to ensure we can make it better in the future and add more features fthan what would've been previously possible. The old app is not coming back. And no, we didn't remove the ability to switch back to the old design because we lurked the forums and hate people. We knew of those workarounds and it was always known that as we deprecate support for our old app this would ultimately not be possible any more. We spotted the threads, we knew they go against our Guidelines to link to old or unofficial versions of the app, but still kept them up, because as mentioned - we're people, we understand, we're not evil or mean, we know the app didn't have any security vulnerabilities, so no harm in keeping the posts up. As no more security updates are added to the old app, this is one of the reasons why the option to switch back to it is now gone - so no evil intent there.

Now, we'll take a couple of actions here. We will lock this thread, as there's no constructive discussion to be had. @chairman-mao - as of this writing you will have received a 7-day warning ban on your account due to your remarks above. We won't censor or sweep anything under the rug. We've never have.

@Grazzt - we really cannot do anything more besides again trying to reassure you that we do listen to feedback, that we've already added many of the most requested features to the new desktop app back and that there's more to come. At the same time, we hope we can reason with you that some things will inevitably not make it back and that you hopefully understand we're not doing this because we want to lose loyal users, but because it's either necessary to make some changes and because we've received feedback and data that for many other loyal fans, we're doing the right thing. As mentioned, we won't be able to make everyone happy and as people, we do feel sad every time we see that this is the reality of the situation.

With only good intentions and all the best,

the moderator team
