Soundcard Issues

Ever since I installed Spotify, I have been experiencing problems with sound cards. Spotify would refuse tp play music, or the card driver would stop working at all (no application can play music until the card is reset/restarted). This has never happened before Spotify. It is happening on two different Windows computers, with two different sound cards, both cards from a respectable manufacturer (M-Audio). Which shows that there is something wrong with the way Spotify interacts with the sound card. Will this ever be fixed? Or should I just wait until a decent competitor with real knowledge of computer audio comes to the market (hopefully no later than this fall with Apple iRadio)?

If you go to Edit > Preferences > Playback > Untick Enable Hardware Acceleration and restart Spotify do you still have issues?
