Spotify Crackling When I Type

I like to use Spotify while I write, but I've noticed for the past couple months that, whenever I type, the frequency of crackling, buzzing, and popping during songs increases significantly. I don't think it's because I'm hitting keyboard commands when I type, since it's inconsistent as to which keys coincide with the glitches. The glitches stop entirely when I stop typing, even if Word, my primary word processor, is still open. It's crackling even as I type this post. It also seems to happen in the web player. I've now had this issue occur on two separate computers, both HP.

Thank you for your post. We're sorry about the late reply.

Can you let us know which version of Spotify you have on your computers? Also - would you mind try with another internet connection to see if the issue persists?

In case you didn't try this already, it'd be great if you'd give a clean reinstall of the app a go with both your HP devices before testing this again. As far as the Web Player is concerned, did you already try clearing your browser's cache and cookies?

Currently, I have version 1.1.42.622.gbd112320. I've tried a fresh install
from Microsoft and from the Spotify website. This has persisted even after
a fresh install of Windows (which I did for another reason). Cache and
cookies have been cleared. It was happening again last night while I was
writing something in Google Docs while using the desktop version. Thank you
for any help you can provide.

Could you try signing in with another account - such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists?

I convinced a friend to let me sign in with their account on my current
laptop, and the crackling persists. Perhaps it's an issue with recent
Windows updates? Even typing up this message while listening to music,
there's all sorts of crackling and buzzing with every other keystroke.

Hey @kearamh,

Thanks for getting back to us with the results.

They show that the root cause of the issue most likely lies with your device or network settings.

Could you have a look at your Windows hosts file for Spotify entries and if you find any - remove them. You can find instructions on how to do this here, even though the article was written for another issue. 

If that doesn't fix thing, run Windows in Safe Mode with Networking - if the app works with no issues there, we'd suggest adjusting different network settings and uninstalling any software that might be conflicting with Spotify's connectivity.
