Spotify Won't Play for More than 3 Seconds

Hi, I'm having a recurring problem.

I use the program Voicemeeter to manage my computer's audio. Yesterday, Spotify began refusing to resume playback so long as I have Voicemeeter open.

I press the play button, Spotify plays for a few moments, then pauses.
This happens even if I play Spotify elsewhere (e.g., on my Android phone, or on another computer), so long as I have Spotify and Voicemeeter open on my desktop.

For clarity, I have been using Voicemeeter and Spotify together (relatively) without issue for years at this point.

I believe that Spotify thinks I am trying to stream/pirate audio when I have Voicemeeter open, and is pausing itself. Does anyone know why this has happened now?

Could you confirm if Voicemeeter input is set as the default device in Windows? If not, follow the steps below to see if that fixes the issue!

1. Right-click on the volume icon in your tray and click on "Sound Settings".
2. Then scroll down to Advanced and click on "More sound settings".
3. Go to the recording tab, right-click on your Voicemeeter input device, and set it as the default device.
4. Restart Spotify
