Spotify attempts, and fails, to update every time I run it - can't uninstall either

Every time I start up my PC Spotify attempts to update.  Every time, it fails, citing a lack of permissions (which is insane, because I have all the permissions).  I tried to uninstall, and I don't have permission for that either.  So Spotify doesn't work, and I can't remove it - I've been questioning for a long time whether Spotify is worthwhile, and this is pushing me over the edge.
