My Question or Issue
whenever i try to play ANY local file that i have dragged on to a playlist, spotify will crash/close immediately. this does not happen with regular tracks on the same playlist, and it also happens on the local files search area when it try to play them.
i have tried a number of solutions, i have cleared the cache, i have uninstalled and reinstalled spotify multiple times on different drives even, i have restarted my laptop, i have more than enough storage space and ram, i have changed the location of the local files. NOTHING works.
the only threads ive seen with issues that may be similar to mine are all on linux, and have solutions related to the operating system, so they dont apply to me.
the files are regular mp3's, which play fine on an audio player, they even play perfectly when i sync them onto my phone and play them there, so it is a desktop issue. i have ran out of ideas.
Hey @qQuantumm,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
We appreciate all the troubleshooting you've done so far and the detailed info you've included. In order to continue investigating this issue, if you've installed the version you can download from our web page, we'd recommend installing the one available on the Microsoft Store (and vice versa) to see if it makes any difference.
Also, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks for responding, I have uninstalled the version of spotify i had, which was the latest version as of now, since it was not in need of an update, i had downloaded it from the spotify web page this past Friday. i have now installed the latest version available on the microsoft store, but the issue is still there. same exact thing happens in this version too.
Hi @qQuantumm,
Thanks for the reply. Does this happen with all files? If possible, please try opening some different files that you haven't tried until now and see if that still happens. Also, could you let us know what the sources of the files are?
Keep us posted.
